Shannon O’Brien, She/Her
Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. It is a privilege to have you here and I thank you for the honor to support you along your journey. Formally, I am a trained mental health provider as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Oregon and Washington. I have 800+ hours in yoga therapy, partner and children’s yoga and am a Certified-International Yoga Therapist.
I value community, connection, joy and play. I use a lens of curiosity, openness and importance of focusing on fostering a return to your inner wisdom. You are the expert in your own body and mind.
For those interested in my yoga offerings, I am honored and privileged to have the opportunity to share the knowledge, from the tradition of yoga from India, with focus on neuroscience, mindfulness techniques and meditation practices.
Professional Bio
Education/Background: My approach to clinical work is informed by my own life history as a person who has utilized mental health services and as a member of a first-generation immigrant family. I utilize the teachings of yoga, and mindfulness, and am a certified yoga therapist through the international association of yoga therapists. For many years, I have worked with people who have experienced trauma; I completed my clinical practicum at HAVEN, supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. I feel honored when people trust me enough to share their life stories and wisdom and is awed by human resilience. My greatest gift to offer is prescense and listening to what your unique needs are. I believe that mental health and healthcare is a human right. I deeply values the opportunity to be a guest in other people’s cultures and strives to practice cultural humility, in all walks of life.
Clinical interests: Shannon works with individuals from all walks of life and all ages, from birth to death. I provide individual, couples and family therapy.

Shannon is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, is a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR - children, teenagers and adults) therapist through EMDRIA, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for suicide prevention and basics, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Incredible Years, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, ego state parts work, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT for Insomnia, Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and Yoga Therapy.
Additionally, she is informed by, though not formally trained or certified in, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Strengths-Based Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Love Languages, Exposure Therapy, Client-Centered Theory, and Art Therapy.
Shannon specializes in trauma, children's, youth and adults mental health, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), substance use, dementia, care planning, anxiety, family and couples therapy, perinatal mental health, behavior change, stress management, and burnout prevention.
